    Walk For Farm Animals Update

    August 21, 2012 by keepinitkind 20 Comments

Recently this story has broken my heart and then given me so many warm fuzzies, I can barely stand it.  Julia, just hours before giving birth to her piglets, was mercilessly beaten and abused.  Farm Sanctuary was alerted and rescued Julia from her torture.  She gave birth to eight piglets, and unlike millions of other female pigs, is actually able to mother her babies.  She will never again be beaten.  While millions of other piglets are being castrated and having their tails docked (both without anesthesia), and sentenced to spend the rest of their very short life crammed into a pin with too many other piglets to be able to move, Julia's piglets will get to live in peace.  For the rest of their lives, they will get to run and play in the sun, roll in the mud, and sleep in nests of hay.  This is all thanks to Farm Sanctuary.

    Julia and her Babies

I want to give a quick "Thank You!" to all who have donated to sponsor team Keepin' It Kind as we walk in Farm Sanctuary's Walk for Farm Animals, raising money to help Farm Sanctuary rescue more animals like Julia.  We are over halfway to our goal, and we are so endlessly grateful and our hearts are so warmed.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I also wanted to make a quick announcement.  Keepin' It Kind has a new team member!  We are so thrilled to welcome the awesome and talented Jackie, of Vegan Yack Attack, to our team and so excited to have her walk with us.  If you live in the southern California area (or are considering an LA vacation), please join our team!  We would love to meet you and have you be a part of team Keepin' It Kind!

Learn more about Why I am Walking for Farm Animals, join our team, and/or make a Donation today!  Together we can make the world a more compassionate place for animals!

Thank you, Richa! I know- if only I had a backyard to give homes to all of these farm animals. I'm so happy that there's Farm Sanctuary doing that for all of us.

Congrats on the Veggie Grill! You're gonna love it! 🙂

I love that Julia and her babies will get to live together in a safe environment with people who care about who they are, not what their bodies can sell for in a grocery store. Such a sweet picture!

Thank you for sharing this story. I started tearing up at the first sentence. I just can't imagine the pain Julia went through and I'm so glad she and her adorable piglets are in a better place.
