Today, we are one month away from the Los Angeles Walk for Farm Animals! We're getting pretty excited and thanks to our newest team member, Jackie, we are getting even closer to our goal! We only need $185 more to reach our goal of $500 and we can't do it without your help.
If you're wondering why you should support us, I have 5 reasons for you and I'm going to share one with you each week until the walk.
1.
"On the day National Shelter Director Susie Coston discovered the calves, she watched truck after truck filled with these baby animals drive up to the auction yard. The newborns, some not even a day old yet, were visibly frenzied and could be heard bawling for their mothers. But while all Susie wanted to do was comfort them, their terror was only met with frustration from the workers who forcefully unloaded and moved them into holding pens by hitting them with canes or shocking them with cattle prods."
Three of these calves were noticeably ill, weak, and unable to stand. Susie stepped in and rescued these three babies and rushed them to a hospital where they would receive emergency treatment and be nursed back to health. They now reside healthfully and happily at Farm Sanctuary. Continue reading about these calves' rescue and recovery...
This is just a small sample of the work that Farm Sanctuary does. The Walk for Farm Animals allows them to raise money so they can keep doing this wonderful work. If you need even more convincing, you can read about Why I Am Walking for Farm Animals. I hope you'll consider supporting us (even $5 or $10 helps!)!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw them! I just want to sit down and hold these babies! Is it weird that I have stronger feelings for baby animals than human babies? Nah. 🙂
Somer
Oh those baby cows! It's hard to imagine anything cuter! You have my full support girl! Only wish I could donate more!

Oh, those poor babies! I'm glad they'll have a forever home at Farm Sanctuary, but I do think about their mothers. I wish that they could be with their babies too. I'm sure they're missed. 🙁

I know- I think that whenever I hear about baby cows being rescued. What about their moms? At least these little guys will be able to live the rest of their lives in peace.

it is bittersweet.. happy ending for these 3 atleast. these stories are the reason i have the angry vegan streak in me when someone fails to understand the pain of a baby so young being taken away from its mother and treated to brutally . thankfully hubbs is always around to save others from the fumes coming out of my ears. its tough to keep a calm face and explain all possible reasons of why we eat the way we do.

I know exactly how you feel. Once, after explaining the cruelty and torture of the dairy industry to my cousin, she responded with "Wow, I guess you must have to really, really like animals to want to be vegan." I had to leave the room to stop myself from saying anything I'd later regret. It's easy when a stranger, or even an acquaintance, doesn't understand, but when it's your family- that's when it's hardest for me.
